At the age of 11, I discovered my favourite T.V show, called ‘Dance Academy’. I never missed an episode, and was in awe of the beautiful ballerinas spinning around on their pointe shoes! I started doing basic ballet tutorials on YouTube, and would dance for hours on end in the rumpus room to Mozart songs. I then realised how much I loved to dance, and missed it, so I asked Mum if I could go to dance lessons again. Thanks goodness for Dance Energy. Straight away I knew it was the perfect dance school for me. Miss Claire and her family were so welcoming when I arrived to my first lesson, and I have loved every lesson I’ve had since.
I only did ballet lessons for 2 years, but this year, I was also enrolled in Jazz, and the eisteddfod teams!! I absolutely loved trying new styles of dance, and I can’t wait to try even more genres in 2016! This year, I also joined the ‘Student Teachers Program’ which has been one of my absolute highlights of 2015! I really enjoy teaching younger students, and I would love to have my own dance school like Miss Claire when I’m older. Another highlight of this year would DEFINITELY be going en pointe for the first time in ballet!! Ever since I first started ballet in 2013, going en pointe was my dream, and I still can’t believe I’ve achieved my biggest goal!
2015 has been the best year of dancing so far for me. Going to classes at our own studio, enrolling in new genres, teaching and going en pointe were so amazing, but the biggest highlight of all, was getting chosen as Student of the Year at our end of year concert! I feel so lucky and privileged that Miss Claire chose me. This is such an amazing opportunity and I can’t wait to get back into dancing in 2016!! I will be doing ballet, jazz, and the eisteddfod team, as well as joining hip-hop, contemporary, and stretching/strengthening. I know I have improved so much since 2013, and I can’t wait to see how much I will improve in 2016.
Thank you so much Miss Claire for being such an amazing, supportive dance teacher, and for always believing in me. You are such an inspiration not only to me, but to everyone at Dance Energy, and what you have achieved in just 3 years is beyond amazing! You have given me such an incredible opportunity, and I can’t wait to get back into the studio!! Bring on 2016!!!!

Hello, my name is Kaitlyn Moore and I have been with Dance Energy since 2013. I started dancing when I was 5 years old, mainly jazz, contemporary, hip hop and performance teams. A few years ago I was also doing ballet and I plan to take classes this year in ballet again but also for the very first time I will be trying tap, singing and acrobatics.
Dance has always been a very big love of mine from when I was little. I guess it all started when I discovered Hi-5. I was crazy in love with that show (who wasn’t?) and I’d never miss a chance to dance, no matter how foolish I looked. One of my goals for this year is to not expect perfection with my technique straight away, like I have in the past, but more to aim and work towards it over time.
Miss Claire started the Performance Team last year and I remember how excited I was to be part of the competitive team, getting to travel to different venues to dance against and watch other dance schools. We have had the best year with the Dance Energy Performance Team, coming home with some great memories and bringing home some trophies for Miss Claire. Performing at the Showcase National Dance Championships at the Gold Coast was a highlight for me and the team. What an amazing experience it was! I can’t wait to get back into it again, and I’m looking forward to any new team members coming on board.
Another highlight for me last year was the end of year concert, they are always so much fun! At the end of year concert I was so lucky to be awarded Miss Claire’s Student of the Year Award. I look over at my trophy and I’m still buzzing on the inside. I’m very very grateful, thank you Miss Claire. Aimee, who won the award for 2013 has been my truest friend since we were 4 years old, and when Aimee presented the trophy to me, it made it even more special. Aimee has been an inspiration to me for many things.
Thank you again Miss Claire for your award and all the experiences you provide for us students. You are such an amazing teacher who I admire so much and have become a better and stronger dancer because of. I’m looking forward to dancing this year and representing Dance Energy Studios. Chookas everyone!

Hello, my name is Aimee Radford. This is my second year with Dance Energy and I am enrolled in Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Ballet and I am part of the Performance Team. This year, I am also trying acrobatics for the first time. I love to dance because it is so much fun and great exercise. Even in my spare time I spend hours doing Just Dance on the Wii.
I started last year a little bit worried about my dance skills because my dad does the knee slap and my mum does the shoulder shake. I know Miss Claire wishes I didn’t have my mum’s E.T. toes so I could actually point with correct technique. This is one of my dance goals – to perfect my point. Or get new toes.
As the year went on, I started extra classes with Miss Claire which included doing Tap for the first time. I was the only one in my age group but Miss Claire still was happy to provide a class for me. Tap is now one of my favourite dances even though it is difficult to choose the MOST favourite. One of my dreams came true when I danced a tap solo at the concert. It felt like I was in a different world – it was amazing.
At the concert, I was fortunate enough to receive Miss Claire’s award for Student of the Year. I was very surprised when Miss Claire read out my name and I knew my mum would be crying somewhere. I feel honoured and grateful to be given the opportunity to represent Dance Energy this year. Miss Claire is a wonderful and caring teacher. She believes in me and has encouraged me to feel more confident about myself and my dancing.
Thanks to Miss Claire for all the effort and time she gives to Dance Energy because we, the students, benefit and learn so much from her while making new friends at the same time.
I can’t wait to see what is in store for us all in 2014. See you there!
